Adding stained glass windows to your space adds a colorful, classy touch to any home, but installing them is costly and hardly renter-friendly. Luckily, creative DIYers have found renter-friendly ways to add touches of stained glass to their homes without overspending. Just ask TikToker Marissa Zingg (@onecrafdiygirl), who recently shared a video documenting how she transformed her kitchen windows using stunning stained glass decals.

In the TikTok, posted on Feb. 19, Zingg cut her square-shaped stained glass decals to size, affixing them to each corner of her windows as well as the center of the window. Then she connected the pieces using caming lines, and the end result is a gorgeous, cheap, and easy upgrade. Plus, unlike other stained glass art, you can still see what’s going on outside once it’s installed.

“This is the best fake stained glass I’ve seen yet,” one commenter wrote. “It’s pretty realistic looking and that’s coming from someone who does stained glass art.”

“Added these last year and really makes it so nice,” another TikToker said.

Better yet, renters won’t have to worry about taking off these decals when it’s time to move. When one commenter asked if the decals were removable, Zingg said: “They are just plastic decals! They come right off!”

You can find the exact materials that the DIYer used on Amazon. The caming lines retail for $10.99 and come in a 12-pack, and Zingg recommended in a comment that you should buy more than you think you’ll need because she had to tape some together. Each line measures 20.5 inches long and 0.125 inches wide.

The peel-and-stick stained glass decal that Zingg used costs $8.78 ($18.29 per square foot) and comes ready to install in one long sheet that measures 7.7 inches long and 9 inches wide. The product currently has a 4.3 out of 5-star rating on Amazon based on nearly 440 ratings.

“The pictures don’t do justice to how great these look in real life,” one five-star reviewer wrote. “I’ve installed these on 3 doors in my home and they change the whole room. Extremely easy to install, the price was unbeatable and installation was a breeze. I love that they changed the look of the doors but we can still see through them clearly.”

If you’re going for a slightly different look, you can also shop InHome’s all-blue stained glass decals, which retail for $16.57 and come in a slightly bigger long sheet that measures 15 inches long and 19 inches wide.
