To chip a golf ball, start by swinging back with your full upper body, as opposed to your wrists. Then, swing downward so the initial contact with the ball is a downward strike. Next, once you’ve made contact with the ball, immediately raise the club so you’re scooping up the ball and helping it escape the grass. Finally, follow through with your swing using your upper body.
